07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Jacob is a solid built backstop that showed good hit ability at the Team One South Showcase presented by Baseball Factory. Offensively, he hit with a simple/compact approach and repeatability. He hit back to back line-drives with direct hands, accelerated through the zone, and was controlled with the barrel to contact. Defensively, he moved efficiently to block and got his feet in-line to throw down to 2B. In all - Jacob is a good player that has ability to add strength too for next level play.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Jacob is a very talented young backstop that flashed a pop of 2.04 in his latest Baseball Factory outing at Pirate City. Behind the dish, he displayed a mature feel for the game, and a sense of confidence and leadership that made his teammates better as well. Offensively, he showed quick bat speed and good barrel accuracy. He needs to continue to maintain his swing and pick up the ball as early as possible. Overall - Pae is a promising prospect that is mature for his age and extremely coachable.

09/14/2013 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Commuter) (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a tall athletic kid that shows the ability to become a great hitter in the middle of the order. he shows the ability to use the hands during the swing with great extension through contact, this allows him to with pop to all fields. Jacob shows good power in the barrel and solid barrel control which will allow him to hit in any part of the order as he progresses through the game. He does need to focus on a couple things that will only improve the swing, one being his front side. He tends to hit on a soft front side, meaning that when he gets to contact he has a bend in his front leg, this will take away from his power. Also he tends to dive into the swing at times, this will cause him to struggle with the pitch on the inner half if the pitcher has decent velocity. If Jacob works on these things and keeps working on being a all-around hitter, he will continue to grow as a hitter.

02/24/2013 - College PREP - Mechanicsburg (Harrisburg), PA Jake is a tall, Catcher with a thin frame. Behind the plate, Jake has playable hands and feet, and he looks the ball in well. He works around the ball, keeps it in front when blocking, and throws with a short arm action to 2nd base. Defensive skills will improve if Jake can avoid stabbing, quicken his feet, and add arm strength. Offensively, Jake has a square set-up, good balance, and average bat speed. He is short to the ball, he makes consistent contact, and his swing is level. Better timing, not reaching, and better use of his lower 1/2 will improve offensive numbers.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
