09/22/2021 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Jacob continues to showcase his baseball tools at the Arizona Junior Fall Classic. On the mound, he shows a controlled, repeatable delivery allowing his quick arm action to work well to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 75-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. He shows a great feel for pitching and maintains composure on the bump. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

09/23/2020 - Arizona Sophomore Fall Classic Jacob is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Jacob starts in a good ready position and works behind fly balls well. He gets into and athletic fielding position and fields ground balls out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and works to barrel up the baseball, spraying the ball to all fields. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and is fluid separating his hands. He works with a quick arm and stays inline toward the plate. Jacob shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 80mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 65mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits at 70mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

10/16/2019 - Arizona Freshman Fall Classic Jacob is a coachable OF/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Jacob works behind the ball well and fields in a square position. He gets rid of the ball quickly and keeps his throws accurate with carry through his target. Presenting his glove to the ball sooner can help Jacob improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with his hands held high. He gets into a small load and produces solid line drives. Jacob can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with his chest over his front knee. Jacob shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 64-67mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 58-61mph. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Jacob improve as a pitcher. With four more years to develop, Jacob has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/09/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a hardworking OF/RHP prospect who shows a desire to push his game to the next level. Offensively, Jacob has an athletic setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jacob shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path producing hard contact. He can drive the ball to each gap and shows power to the pull side. In the field, Jacob plays with fluid footwork and does a nice job staying behind the baseball. He moves with agile actions and fields the ball in an athletic position. Jacob receives the ball with soft hands and has a clean exchange leading into a long arm action. He plays with momentum through the baseball showing accurate, strong throws. On the mound, Jacob is a competitor who has an aggressive approach. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. Jacob stays square to home plate with the proper stride length. His fastball has run movement and he shows a good feel for his changeup. Overall, Jacob is a versatile prospect who has the ability to advance his game with development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
