12/17/2011 - Pirate City Christmas Camp and Tournament - Session 1 Remington showed similar abilities as we had previously seen in Rochester, NY. He showed for the first time at SS. On the mound, he delivers from a low 3/4 arm slot and has a solid pitchers build. His fastball shows a range of 75-82 mph, and if he can keep it down in the zone it has some life. Breaking ball displays downward tilt with tight spin and shows potential as being a quality pitch when he get extension out front. It ranges from 68-69 mph. Defensively at SS, his feet are active as he works around balls to play through in a low approach. Hands are clean but needs to work on softening hands, present more out front and improve foot speed to improve defensive abilities. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond as he displays a strong arm. At the plate, Jacob shows a balanced approach and uses his lower half well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half. Jacob is a very coachable kid and will continue to improve in his game.
