01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Jacob is a tall RHP/OF prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. On the mound, Jacob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a quick arm and extends through his release, staying inline toward the plate. Jacob operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 90mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 71-75mph with late 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 74-75mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Jacob was dominant during his outing, striking out 11 of the 15 batters he faced. In the field, Jacob shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with a firm glove. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line through his target. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who will be among the top in his class.

10/18/2020 - All-In Membership - Tomball (Houston), TX Jacob is a very talented/projectable (RHP/OF) who is fun to watch. On the mound, this righty has an effective 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a quick/loose arm action. He maintains good tempo and repeats his delivery well. FB jumps out of his hand and cracks the mitt at 86 mph. He works the ball in and out and can spot up. Curveball shows 11/5 shape with late/sharp break and good depth. Changeup is thrown with FB arm speed - helping to create deception and complementing his FB well. In the OF, he has quick footwork and puts his athleticism on display. He creates good angles and works through the ball, ganging ground toward his target with strong/accurate throws with zip into his target (93 mph). At the plate, this RHH shows a tall/balanced setup with fluid rhythm and active hands to load. Barrel delivery is quick with + bat speed as he works to engage his lower 1/2 and generate good torque. The ball jumps off of his bat as he sprays the gaps. Rogers is a solid 2-way prospect who has what it takes to play at a high level. He is one to keep an eye on is this only his junior year.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
