01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jacob continues to show as a prospect with improvements his baseball abilities at the Pre-Season All American. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.10 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

11/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Milton, NY Jacob is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. Behind the dish, Jacob shows active footwork and covers up well when blocking. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this switch hitter sets up in an athletic stance and is smooth to load. He works through a level swing with plus bat speed, spraying the ball to all fields. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

09/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Troy (Albany), NY Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as the gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 1.96 with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and present well out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with solid abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He tracks the ball well and makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Jacob is a lean catcher who will graduate in 2023. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.96 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and he works to get rid of the baseball quicker. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone but needs to present a lower target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down quicker. With 6 years to further develop, Jacob has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
