01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament A very talented 202 Catcher, Jacob will project highly moving forward. Sets up low and athletically, has a strong glove, receives very well. Centers the ball up well and controls rebounds when blocking. Throws well to bases, works inline and has a quick and simple exchange (2.02s release time to 2B), doesn't have any wasted movements. Do equally as well at the plate. Has a simple and short stride and has great upper/lower body timing. A short direct swing path, Jacob can drive the ball to all fields and did a great job getting on base. Reached safely in all 6 plate appearance drawing 4 walks, his plate discipling gives him an advanced approach and should continue to excel as a good catching prospect moving forward.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
