01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jacob is a projectable, well-built 1B prospect who graduates in 2017. In the field, Jacob plays with fluid, active footwork giving him the ability to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball athletically in a low position receiving with a soft glove. He has a clean exchange leading into a long, loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 slot. He plays with momentum through his release and his throws have consistent accuracy. As a right-handed hitter, Jacob has a square stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a short stride. Jacob has fast bat speed and an on-plane swing path with quick hands. He has a repeatable swing and produces square contact. Jacob has the talent to spray the ball to all fields. Overall, Jacob is a talented prospect who has a bright future on the diamond.

06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Jacob continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he has good footwork, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. He fires strong throws with good carry and accuracy. At the plate - he has a strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He takes an absolute hack - crushing the ball to deep parts of the park (exit velocity = 93 mph). Jacob has the tools that will play at a high level and make an impact for a collegiate program.

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jacob is a solid corner INF who can absolutely swing it. Offensively, this power hitter steps into the box with a purpose. He gets good separation with leverage. Bat speed is evident as he crushes the ball at contact, driving it to the deep parts of the park. He will fit nicely in a clean-up type role where he'll be able to rack up a ton of RBI's. At 1B he moves well for a big guy. He tracks GB's into a soft/sure mitt, gathering smoothly. Jacob is a very talented prospect who will garner some attention with his all-around skill-set.

10/11/2015 - College PREP - Gaffney, SC Jacob is a tall, solid, and broad 1B that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with tremendous power potential through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the baseball, creating extension. He has outstanding strength and a solid feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off his bat. Power potential is present to all fields as he works to stay inside the ball well. At 1B, he is a big target and displays proper footwork around the bag, displaying clean hands. He moves well laterally with defensive grades improving as he presents hands more out front and increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry but needs to work on getting rid of the baseball quicker. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, especially at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
