07/15/2019 - Accelerated College PREP - Avon (Cleveland), OH Jacob is a strong C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Jacob moves efficiently and centers the ball when blocking. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistently on-line to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jacob is a coachable C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. Behind the plate, Jacob shows active footwork and centers the ball in the middle of his body when blocking. He presents a good target to the pitcher and works to make accurate throws to 2B. Jacob can improve defensively by quickening his exchange to throw. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short stride. He works to barrel up the baseball and makes solid contact. Jacob can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Jacob is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

02/04/2018 - College PREP - Dayton, OH Jacob is an athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and has a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.39-2.49 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process but needs to widen his base in setup. He uses his body well through the blocking process and moves well laterally, centering all balls out front. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
