12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Jacob has progressed and molded himself into a solid prospect in the OF. Quick foot-speed (7.06 60 yard dash), increased arm strength (83 mph) and improved abilities offensively and defensively are the results of hard work. In the OF, he comes the get the ball on the ground and fields in smoothly while playing through toward his target. He gathers well and has a clean exchange, firing the ball into his target. At the plate, Visser shows a solid base with good balance. He waits for his pitch and drives it on a line. He utilizes his strong lower 1/2 to drive to ball to all parts of the field. As Jacob enters his senior season, he should be confident that his hard work has paid off.

06/22/2012 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Jacob worked out both in the OF and on the mound during his time in Omaha. Defensively, Jacob reads the ball off the bat well, he goes back on it properly, and he makes plays. He gets rid of the ball quickly and throws with accuracy to his target. On the hill, Jacob has a simple delivery, a low separation point, and he works on a downhill plane. At the plate, Jacob has a level bat path and he swings in good rhythm. He stays through the ball and gets his lower 1/2 through.

05/26/2012 - College PREP - Salt Lake City, UT Jacob is a RHP/OF who will graduate in 2014. Foot speed is above average running a 7.12 60-yard dash. Defensively, feet are playable with sure hands and a quick/clean exchange. Shows the ability to make plays and displays good angles to his right on balls in the air. Jacob can continue to work on smoother actions, squaring his shoulders to throw, and going back on fly balls. On the mound, Jacob shows a big body with good mound presence. He shows some natural arm strength ranging between 78-80 mph but there are some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential. Jacob can start to work on a stronger balance point with better separation while staying in line with his target. Offensively, Jacob has a balanced approach with a level swing path and good extension, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will improve with more flexion in his lead arm and by working on staying inside the ball. With consistent work on the areas above Jacob will continue to see improvement in his overall baseball skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
