10/24/2014 - 2014 Under Armour So Cal Classic Upperclass Participant Thick lower half strong plus bat speed with pullside gap power with oppo potential good extension through ball

12/27/2013 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Jacob is a talented prospect both offensively and defensively. At the plate, this righty shows smooth rhythm, getting back into a strong loaded position. He delivers the barrel with quick hands and fires his backside lower 1/2, driving the ball to the gaps. He is and aggressive hitter yet has a good strike zone awareness (drawing 3 walks). Defensively at 3B, he works from a low/athletic fielding position and doesn't let much get by. He plays the hops well, gathers smoothly, and fires the ball across the diamond. Jacob is a coachable player who should make an impact this upcoming season.

09/08/2013 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Jacob is a skilled OF who has an athletic frame (5'11"/210lbs). Offensively, he utilizes his strong frame and drives his lower 1/2 to generate pop off of his barrel. He makes hard contact and drives the ball to the gaps. He will be a middle of the lineup type of guy thanks to his ability to drive in runs. Defensively, he takes a good first step and is aggressive in attacking the ball. He is sure handed, plays through the ball well, and makes accurate throws toward his target. Quickening his exchange and increasing his arm strength will help to improve defensive abilities. Williams will have success on the diamond thanks to his all-around skill-set.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
