Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2BPosition Projection

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Bogue only showed at 2B at the event and has improved his baseball abilities. Defensive grade has improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball up, displaying soft / sure hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting grade has improved through a squared / balanced setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path as he displays a solid line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 1 for 4 with 2 BB as he displays a solid eye at the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and works hard.

07/15/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Plano, TX Jacoby is an athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and OF. In the INF, Jacoby has active footwork, sure hands, and he fields the ball in a square position. He takes good angles to field, works the double play nicely, and he throws with accuracy and carry to his target. In the OF, Jacoby has fluid feet, he works behind the ball well, and he throws with accuracy from a short arm action and a quick exchange. Offensively, Jacoby has a square set-up, good balance, and fast bat speed. He makes hard contact, he can hit to all fields, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Quicken release
2. Field out front
3. Long toss
Outfield
1. Body control
2. Sure up routes
Offense
1. Soften stride

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
