01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament The ultra-athletic Woodson is another shortstop on the Top 10 list who showed an intriguing combination of tools and the ability to use them in Arizona. He is quick-twitch in all that he does including his compact right-handed stroke that is geared for line drives. He went 2-4 with 2 BBs in game play, showing the ability to recognize and react to off-speed stuff. His loose hands got the barrel to the ball effectively during BP as well. Defensively, Jaden had good feet (ran the 60 in 6.84), rhythm on ground balls, and showed the ability to go well to his backhand side. This University of Texas commit seems to just be scratching the surface of his ability on the diamond.

11/04/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Futures Texas Jaden is ultra-athletic and can impact a game in a number of ways. As a hitter he has a fluid, rhythmic approach that is balanced and consistent. This allows him to be on time and he's always ready to do damage. His hands are quick generating good bat speed with an efficient line drive stroke that leads to a lot of hard barrel contact. As a defender, Jaden is smooth at SS with great life in his body and bounce in his step. He uses his first-step quickness to give him excellent range in any direction, and his hands are very dependable. He moves through routine balls well into the throw, and is at his best when making plays on the run and throwing from different arm slots. Jaden is versatile enough to play nearly anywhere on the field, though he will stay in the middle of the field at a premium spot in the future. There is a ton of upside in this young prospect. It will be exciting to follow Jaden over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
