01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (FL) Barbour is a talented, hard working MIF prospect who continues to progress. He ran his fastest 60 time to date at 6.90. Defensively, he has active prep with a quick first step getting good reads off of the barrel. He works fluidly right to left, funnels cleanly and has a smooth release to fire the ball accurately across the diamond. With the bat, this lefty has an athletic stance with smooth rhythm working back into a strong load/launch position. He has a good eye for the zone and doesn't swing at much he can't handle. He barrels the ball up consistently, creating hard contact. Once on base he's aggressive and is always looking to advance. This 2023 grad has the tools that will make an impact in this only his sophomore year.

08/09/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has the makings of a special type player. At SS, defensive, defensive abilities have improved, now showing outstanding abilities as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. In the OF, defensive abilities are well above average. He take proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, flashing gap-to-gap pop.

01/17/2020 - 2020 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jake is an athletic and hard working 2B prospect. At 2B, Jake is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and has quick first step to the ball. He has range on both sides of the glove, he plays through the ball, and has soft hands. He has good footwork and makes accurate throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, Jake has good pitch recognition and he looks to drive the ball through the middle part of the field. He starts in a tall and open stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position, he has a direct swing path, and he attacks the inside part of the ball. Jake will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
