01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jake showed as a top prospect at the Preseason All American showcase. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in 2.01 range with accuracy / carry on his throws. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying excellent hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing through an aggressive hip turn. At the event, he was 2 for 5 with a 3B and 3 BB. Jake has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with abilities.

01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jake continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities at the Pre-season All American. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in 2.13 range with accuracy / carry (86 mph velocity) on his throws.

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.13 with accuracy to his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact and stays inside the ball with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

10/02/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Jake continues to show as a prospect on the diamond with improvements in his overall baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate he shows a squared setup and tracks the ball well with soft glove. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.18 with accuracy / carry (88 mph velocity) on his throws. At 3B, defensive abilities are well above average as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing with gap-to-gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

12/05/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Jake is a solid, athletic C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well. Pop times showed in 2.28 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At 3B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around ball and plays with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a great feel for the barrel. With 4 years to further develop, Jake has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
