12/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Union City, CA Jake is a class of 2023 OF/RHP prospect. He features an athletic frame with room to grow as he matures. In the outfield, Jake starts in a good athletic position helping him cover space. He does a good job creating angles to the baseball. Shows a good ability to get reads off the bat and takes good 1st steps to the baseball. Makes accurate throws into the infield. Could benefit greatly from a structured throwing program to increase arm velocity. At the plate, this right-handed hitter starts in an even stance. Does a good job creating a consistent launch by having an on time stride combined with a good load. Shows an advanced approach with a middle of the field focus. Hits line drives to all parts of the field with help from his barrel staying on plane for an extended period of time. On the mound, he shows a good 3-pitch mix. Delivers both his fastball and breaking ball from the same ¾ arm slot. Does a good job working down the mound. Fastball consistently found the strike zone working up to 71 MPH while his breaking ball showed 11-5 shape. Jake is a talented young prospect with multiple years left to continue his development.

11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Jake is a class of 2023 OF/RHP who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Select Training and Competition. In the OF, he starts in an athletic position with smooth and aggressive footwork. He showed a good first step reads and creates good fielding angles towards the ball. Low fielding position as he fields the ball out front of his body. Throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action and has carry on his throws. On the mound, the right-handed pitcher attacked hitters while maintaining good poise. Showcased a FB that was up to 70mph that had some run to it as well. Mixed in a slider with 10/4 shape that he was able to throw for a strike in all counts. In 3 innings of work, Jake punched out 5 batters and didn't allow a hit. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance with a comfortable hand set. A small hand load with center balance at the plate. A flat barrel path enables him to hit balls hard to the opposite field with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. In live game action, he reached base 4 times with 2 singles, a base on ball, and reached on an error. Stole several bases and was a threat on the base paths. Jake plays the game with high energy/effort that college coaches want in their program. As Jake continues to grow and develop, we see him continuing to make big strides on the baseball field.

Quiet head/eyes enable him to track pitches well. Showed good awareness of the strike zone. Drew a walk and had a hit in live game action. Simple and balanced swing with ability to hit balls to all fields with a recorded bat exit velocity of 73mph. Also used his lower ½ well. As he continues to develop and mature, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.

On the mound, fastball showed a range of 66-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
