02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching & Catching Weekend (Ages 14-18) Jake is a coachable RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills at the Accelerated Training Weekend. On the mound, Jake starts with a simple rock step and gathers over the rubber. He separates his hands on time and works with a loose arm, staying inline towards the plate. Jake shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 79mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 68-69mph with sharp 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 73-76mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Overall, Jake is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jake is an athletic and smart 2020 pitching prospect that worked hard all week. On the mound, Jake has good poise and presence. He gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a clean arm action. He works north to south in his delivery and commands the bottom half of the zone with his 2 seamer. At the plate, Jake gets into a strong hitting position but needs to continue to get his front foot down on time. He finds a way to use his lower half and controls the barrel. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. Jake is a competitor and we hope to see his progress in the future.

08/20/2018 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Jake is a tall, RHP who will graduate in 2020. On the mound, Jake has a loose/clean arm action, he stands over the rubber well balanced, and he works in good tempo. He keeps his eyes on target, has good direction toward home, and he works on a downhill plane. Jake has good glove side lead, lands in a square direction, and he throws strikes. Jake can improve on the hill with more lower body, added arm strength, and sharper off-speed.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
