04/23/2023 - National Showcase - Washington, DC Jake is a 2024 3B prospect with an athletic frame at 5'10" 170 pounds from Chevy Chase, MD. At third, he does a great job pre-pitch of getting a good prep step. He shows off active feet and range to all sides. He gets in a low, athletic fielding position and presents firm hands out in front while centering the baseball. He does a great job of working through the baseball and creating momentum to his throwing targets. His exchange is quick and clean and he shows off a loose arm action while making accurate throws across the diamond. Jake has a very impressive feel for the position. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance and gets a good squared stride toward the pitcher. He does a great job of keeping his balance centered and he has good rhythm with his actions. His lower half works through the baseball and he shows off fast bat speed. He squares the ball up consistently and shows off some pop to the pull side. Jake is an exciting prospect that we are excited to see more of in the future!

03/26/2023 - National Showcase - Bowie, MD Jake continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. At 3B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body, gaining ground. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with power to all fields. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the All-Region tournament. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.28 runner. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and works through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through an aggressive hip turn. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

05/15/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Jake is an athletic 3B prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the diamond. In the field, Jake shows active footwork and creates good angles. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them on-line across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He gets back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a level swing and sprays line drives to all fields. Overall, Jake is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

04/10/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington, DC Jake is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2024. Medium frame athletic build with strength present. At 2B, showed athletic actions, with active/efficient footwork, and closes distance on batted balls. Works from right to left and fields from a low/square fielding position with soft hands out front. Has a short arm stroke and throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 75mph across the diamond. Made accurate and on-line throws, with a quick release, and he keeps his feet moving throughout throwing process. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Starts with an on-time glide step, with activated hands, and keeps weight between his knees. Showed a direct barrel path as he hit balls consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 81mph. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Jake having a bright future on the baseball field.

05/23/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Jake is an athletic 3B prospect who will graduate in 2024. In the field, Jake shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate/on-line throws to his target. Following his throws can help Jake create more carry across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes his stride on time. He is smooth to load and engages his lower half well. He works through a direct swing with fast bat speed, driving the ball from gap to gap. Jake can generate more pop off the barrel by getting more extension through his swing. With three more years to develop, Jake has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
