Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Jake showed solid upgrades in his game during his time at the Pre-Season AA. He is a talented, 2-way player with a bright future. At 1st base, Jake has quick/fluid footwork, a presentable glove, and he fields athletically. He creates a good fielding angle, stays low, and his exchange is clean with a short/accurate arm to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance and a loose/clean arm circle. He separates his hands on time, keeps his eyes on target, and lands with a proper length stride toward home plate. Offensively, Jake has a tall/athletic stance, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, good bat whip, and he makes hard contact gap to gap. Jake is a solid 2-way player with a high ceiling.

04/11/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Jake is a 2023 1B/LHP. Tall frame, long levers, with physicality to the build and room to develop. Left-handed hitter sets up with an upright and athletic stance. Simple load and short stride as he gets good separation. Utilizes his lower half well with some late bat whip. Gap to gap power with an exit velocity of 86mph. Primary left-handed pitcher who gathers over rubber and utilizes his lower half well. Shows good rhythm to his delivery with balance through release. Uses a compact arm action from a high 3/4 arm slot with good arm speed. 3 pitch pitcher who showed good feel and ability to command all three pitches. FB was up to 82mph with good sink. Mixes in a true over hand CB with 12/6 shape and late break with good depth. Changeup comes out with FB arm speed and late sinking action. Both off-speed pitches are swing and miss pitches. Secondary 1B with good pre-pitch routine who has smooth actions and clean footwork. Confident actions and fields the ball cleanly out front with soft hands. Stays low on throws and scooped almost everything thrown in his direction. Makes accurate throws with an arm velocity of 85mph. Solid 2-way prospect with tremendous upside who continues to improve his skillsets that college coaches desire.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
