Official Scouting Report

06/18/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (HS) Jake is a class of 2022 SS/2B. He shows high levels of athleticism as well as good foot speed and ran the 60-yard dash in only 6.94 seconds. He showed high levels of baseball IQ while base running. In the field, he showed his quick twitch again and got very good reads off the bat. He was able to stay low and work beneath the baseball. He did a good job taking care of the baseball on the transfer before creating momentum to deliver on time and accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, he showed lots of feel for the barrel and looked very comfortable in the box. He showed a clean and repeatable swing. He did a good job staying balanced throughout the swing and incorporates his lower ½ well. In game action he went 3-4 with a 2B and a 3B along with 2 BB’s and a HBP. Jake is a good prospect who plays the game hard.

04/07/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Sanford (Orlando), FL Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.38 runner. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared / athletic setup. Hands are and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/06/2019 - College PREP - Jacksonville, FL Jake continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in attacking and playing through balls. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Jake is an athletic and talented 2022 middle infield prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At SS, Jake is on time with his pre-pitch movement, he presents a low/early glove, and creates angles to the ball. He works from the ground up, he anticipates the ball off the bat, and he has good footwork on double plays. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Jake starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps the barrel on plane with the ball. He creates back side rotation into the ball and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact to prevent his front side from opening up at contact. The two drills that Jake can do to correct this is the window drill, back panel drill, and no look drill. Jake will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/07/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Jacksonville, FL Jake is a young SS with solid skills. Defensively, Jake has fluid footwork, he presents his glove well, and he fields athletically. He has an active 1st step to the ball, plays through, and has a clean exchange with carry to his target. Offensively, Jake has an athletic set-up, a proper load, and good balance. He has a direct barrel to the ball, makes consistent contact, and has nice pop in his swing. Jake can improve his skills with work on the following.

Defense
1. Quicken first step
2. Play more through
Offense
1. Level swing
2. Keep head still
3. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
