04/06/2008 - College PREP - Hamilton, ON Jake works quickly and shows a great tempo on the mound. Arm action is loose, easy and works well away from his body. Arm strength is solid average and would benefit from getting on a strict long toss program to further aid in development. Off speed pitches are average, flashing potential. His delivery is sound, efficiently getting to a balance point allowing him to have solid command of all his pitches. Olynyk has an upside on the mound and should only get better over the next year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
