03/20/2016 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Jake is a solid, athletic C/3B with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.31. Behind the plate, he utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in working in line through a clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.08-2.17 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as tremendous tools that will play at the next level. At 3B, defensive abilities are outstanding, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he moves side to side, flashing range. He tracks balls with hands / feet working well together through fielding process, playing through well. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (92 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach, creating extension. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered with late explosion. Lower half works well through the swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Jake has the makings of a special type player that will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
