02/06/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Pensacola, FL Jake showed well defensively and on the mound during his time in Pensacola, FL. He is a projectable 2-way player with a big/athletic frame. In the OF, Jake gets in a good ready position, footwork is active, and he moves with agility to the baseball. He fields athletically, makes plays consistently, and throws with with carry and accuracy to his target. On the mound, this LHP has good balance, a loose arm circle, and on-time hands separation. He has a good frame, a controlled landing toward home plate, and he finishes in a complete position. Jake's FB ranged from 83-85 MPH, and his off-speed compliments it well. Mound effectiveness can improve if Jake can finish more and sharpen off-speed. At the plate, Jake stands in with an open stance, he swings in good rhythm, and shows a line drive approach. He has a square/direct barrel, has power in his swing, and he uses his lower body well. Not dropping his bat, and a better hand load will help improve solid hitting numbers. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for Jake as he enters his senior year.

02/21/2021 - All-In Membership - Pensacola, FL Jake is a tall, athletic OF/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth/fluid actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate with on line carry (88 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a crouched setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields, and has strength in his swing with gap to gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 82-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with good arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Jake has a lot of potential and will get looks from collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
