11/11/2021 - Baseball Factory Fall Select Tournament at Pirate City Jake continues to shine in his baseball abilities at the Pirate City event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.12 runner. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (86 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing. He stays inside the ball. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. On the mound, he works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. Fastball shows a range of 75-76 mph with arm side run / sink. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with both his pitches. He will benefit in developing a breaking ball as he continues to progress. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.
