01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jake is a MIF who is a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. In the MIF, he has plus lateral range working from the ground up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws (84 mph velocity) zipping across the diamond. Jake has the makings of a special type player and will gets looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Jake is an athletic and talented 2020 2B prospect that made several adjustments throughout the week at Pirate City. At 2B, Jake is on time with his prep step, creates angles to the ball, and works through his backhand. He presents a low/early glove, funnels the ball, and has good footwork on double plays. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Jake starts in an open stance, loads his hands back, and has smooth rhythm in his hands. He hits off a firm front side and stays balanced through contact. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and hunt the fastball. Jake will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

02/10/2018 - College PREP - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Jake is an athletic, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and OF. In the INF, Jake has active feet, soft hands, and he fields in a low/square position. He has a quick exchange, and a short/accurate arm with accuracy to his target. Playing more through the ball and added arm strength will help defense get better. In the OF, Jake has fluid/active feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and throws with carry and accuracy to his target. At the plate, Jake has an athletic set-up, he swings in good rhythm, and his hands are quick. He has a simple swing, fast bat speed, and he makes hard contact.

12/17/2017 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Jake is a young, athletic 2nd baseman with nice skills. Defensively, Jake has efficient footwork, he fields in a low/athletic position, and he centers the ball well. He has firm hands, makes plays, and has a clean exchange with accuracy to his target. If Jake can field further out front, avoid overrunning the ball, and play more through, defensive skills can get better. Offensively, Jake has a square/athletic set-up, a short/square stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He attacks the ball aggressively, has a simple stroke, and can hit hard to all fields.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
