01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Jake is an athletic SS prospect who showed well during the Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the field, Jake shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making on-line throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He works through a short swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud line drives and great pull side power (91mph exit velo). Overall, Jake is a talented prospect who has the skill set to contribute at the next level.

02/23/2020 - College PREP - Waco, TX Jake is an athletic and talented 2022 SS prospect. At SS, Jake is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and he has a good first step to the ball. He plays through his backhand and he makes strong/accurate throws. At the plate, Jake starts in an open stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and he has good actions to the ball. He has a direct bat path, explosive hands, and he looks to drive the ball to the pull side. Jake is highly motivated and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/05/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX Jake is a young (2022 grad) and athletic 2-way player as a SS/C. With the bat, this LH swinger displays a square setup with active hands. He swings on-plane and hits the ball where it's pitched, utilizing the entire field. At SS, he has active footwork and creates angles around the GB. He picks out the hops, gathers well and has a clean exchange to throw. Behind the dish, Jake sits in well with athletic actions and sway. He works in-line toward 2B on throws down with pop times as low as 2.52. Continuing to work on the following will help to improve his skills on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
