12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jake is a coachable SS prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Jake gets into an atheltic position and fields with soft hands. He throws from a 3/4 angle and makes consistently accurate throws. Jake can improve defensively by attacking the ball more aggressively. At the plate, this RHH is smooth getting into his load and takes a direct swing to the ball, spraying to all fields. Jake can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Jake is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Bartlett (Memphis), TN Jake is a lean, athletically built SS/RHP prospect who has a good upside on both sides of the ball. Offensively, Jake has a square setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He has fluid rhythm with his load and takes a square stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. He shows fast bat speed with a short, direct swing path to produce consistent contact. Jake is a line drive hitter who has the ability to drive the ball to pull side. In the field, Jake plays with fluid footwork and agile body control to cover good ground in each direction laterally. He takes effective angles and fields it in an athletic position with soft hands. Jake has a clean exchange leading into a short, loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 slot. He plays with momentum through the baseball and his throws are consistent with good strength. On the mound, Jake pitches athletically with a balanced delivery throwing from a high 3/4 slot. He extends through his release and stays square to home plate. Jake features a full arsenal with a fastball, curveball, and changeup. Overall, Jake has a solid approach to the game and good potential to get even better.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
