08/18/2018 - College PREP - West Harrison (NYC), NY Jakeluis is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2020. In the field, Jakeluis shows fluid footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them consistent with good carry through his target. Jakeluis can improve defensively by removing his glove pat. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He produces explosive bat speed through the zone which leads to hard contact and gap to gap pop. Jakeluis can improve as a hitter by keeping his hands inside the ball. Overall, Jakeluis is a talented prospect who possesses the skill set to excel at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
