Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament Jakob is an OF/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the All-Region Tournament. In the field, Jakob shows efficient footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields ground balls out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed and good extension, leading to line drives and gap to gap pop. On the mound, Jakob gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and keeps his pitches around the zone. Jakob shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits at 62mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Jakob is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Jakob is an athletic and hard working OF prospect that was eager to learn. In the OF, Jakob is on time with his prep step, he has a good first step to the ball, and plays through ground balls. He makes accurate throws but needs to continue to build arm strength. At the plate, Jakob starts in an athletic stance, he loads his hands back into the drive position, and attacks the inside part of the ball. He makes consistent contact and looks to drive the ball through the middle part of the field. He hustles at all times and has good instincts on the bases as well. Jakob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jakob is an athletic and talented 2025 OF prospect. In the OF, Jakob is on time with his prep step, he has a good first step to the ball, and presents a low/early glove. He has good hands and plays through fly ball. Improving his range and arm strength will elevate his game to the next level. At the plate, Jakob has good balance in the box, he has good timing to the ball, and consistently finds the barrel. The ball comes off the bat well and he finds the gaps. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and creating backside drive will allow him to stay consistent. Jakob was eager to learn and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
