08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jalen is a thick, strong 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.03. At 3B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate across the diamond but he will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 2 years to further develop, Jalen has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
