08/23/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - St Cloud (Minneapolis), MN Jalen is a SS/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Jalen shows efficient footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Making a cleaner exchange can help Jalen get rid of the ball quicker. At the plate, this LHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, making solid contact. Jalen can produce more pop off the barrel by taking more aggressive hacks. On the mound, Jalen keeps his eyes on target and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through his release well. Jalen shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 61-63mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 60-62mph with sinking action. Striding square toward the plate can help Jalen improve his pitch command. Overall, Jalen is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

07/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Minneapolis, MN Jalen is a long, athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Jalen has active feet, he covers ground well, and centers it properly. He fields cleanly, keeps the ball in front of his body, and throws with accuracy from a loose arm to his target. On the mound, Jalen has good balance, he separates on time, and gets good extension on his pitches. He keeps his eyes on target and uses his lower body. At the plate, Jalen has a square/athletic set-up, good balance, and a middle of the field approach. He has a still head, decent bat speed, and he makes consistent contact. Jalen can improve skills with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
