Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic with Video Showcase (HS - East) James is an outfielder who will be graduating in the class of 2025. He has a medium build with plenty to room to fill out as he continues to mature. In the outfield, he shows a good ability to stay athletic and keep his feet active during his pre pitch routine. He does a good job of getting behind the baseball and working through it to throw. He shows good instincts and gets very good reads off the bat. At the plate, he continues to show his feel for the game and willingness to help the team succeed. Shows great strike zone awareness, walking 2 times throughout the weekend along with other at bats that went deep into the count. He sets up in an even and athletic stance with loose hands before showing a simple and repeatable load/stride. Does a good job tracking the ball deep into his barrel and stays in the middle of the field. Top of the order type of guy who plays the game with velocity. James is great kid and arguably even better teammate who had high praises from all coaches, with this attitude and continued development he should be able to play at the next level.

06/25/2021 - Baseball Factory All-State Tournament (MS) James continues to shine with his baseball abilities. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but needs to play through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach

12/13/2020 - All-In Membership - Manalapan, NJ James is an athletic OF/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.20 60 time. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an uphill swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 5 years to further develop, James has potential with time and room to progress his game.

02/29/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Combined Skills Training - Columbia, MD (Ages 12-14) James is an aggressive hitter with a simple, repeatable approach. He is balanced throughout and does a good job of finding the barrel consistently. He's in the box looking to hit - to do damage - and he attacks pitches he likes. His path is direct and he shows some natural rhythm in the box. Behind the plate, James is a student of the game. Extremely coachable and eager to learn, he picks things up quickly. He will benefit from taking the same aggressiveness we see as a hitter into his defensive game. From a technical standpoint, a wider base in his primary stance and stronger hands when receiving will help him. We look forward to seeing James continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
