10/18/2015 - College PREP - El Paso, TX James is a RHH backstop who has a projectable frame (6'2"/185). With the bat - this righty displays a balanced setup with a solid base. He has active hands, gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. Swing is quick through a level path as he connects with some pop to his pull-side. Letting the ball travel a little deeper into the hitting zone along with engaging his lower 1/2 more will help to increase power at the plate. Behind the dish - James sits in well with quiet actions and a soft mitt. He works hard laterally, bodies the pitch in the dirt up and is quick to his feet. Throws to 2B are accurate as he gains ground - pop times of 2.39. Times will continue to drop with added arm strength (long toss) and as quicker transfer/exchange. A 2018 grad - Gimler has tools with still time to unlock his potential.
