09/02/2022 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) with Video Showcase James is an OF/RHP who graduates in 2024. In the OF, shows active footwork and ability to cover ground. Good 1st step reads enable him to work through the ball. A loose arm action in back working into a high 3/4 arm slot coming forward, with accurate/on-line throws, and an arm velocity up to 83mph. A right-handed pitcher, works exclusively from the stretch. He works with good tempo and separates on time. Throws a FB that sat 75-78mph with some movement in the zone. Mixed in a CB with 10/4 shape and a changeup with sinking action that he throws with FB arm speed. Induced soft contact in live game action and struck out 5 batters. A right-handed hitter begins with a tall and open stance. Has long levers with the ability to spray balls to all fields. Had 3 hits during live game action. With continued growth and development, we foresee James having a bright future on the baseball field.

08/22/2021 - All-In Membership - Thousand Oaks, CA James is a SS who will graduate in 2025. Tall frame lean build with some strength present and plenty of time to add to his frame. In the infield, he displayed fluid footwork and some body control at baseball. Feet are active as he works to center the baseball. Fields the baseball out front and has a clean exchange. Loose arm action on his accurate/on-line throws across diamond at at 74mph. Accuracy and velocity will improve by building more arm strength through a long toss and J-band program. At the plate, he shows an upright and square stance. Short/on-time stride, with a small hand load, and gets good extension out in front. Good bat angle as he sprays balls to all field with a bat exit velocity up to 68mph during BP. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 4 years to further develop, James has potential to play at the high school level and beyond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
