03/23/2014 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA James only showed defensively behind the plate at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. Arm strength has improved as he topped out at 82 mph at the arm strength station. He gets rid of the baseball quickly through a clean transfer / exchange with pop times showing in the 2.06 range. Receiving / blocking tools show as quality tools that will play well at the next level.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament James continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, but will benefit by continuing to increase foot quickness. He utilizes his quick/athletic feet well in working in line through a quick transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as well as he threw his lowest pop to date at 2.00 with a range of 2.00-2.12. Throws are accurate with life and on line carry through his target as he displays well above average arm strength. Receiving/blocking skills are outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City James is a hardworking catcher with a positive attitude and loves to compete. He continues to show some improvements in his baseball tools and is a plus defender behind the plate. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Feet are active as he works in line to his target through a solid setup and clean transfer/exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. He has quickened and improved his release through outstanding footwork. He will control the running game with his feet/arm. Receiving/blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to shine. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through an aggressive/direct path to the ball. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to increase as he adds overall body strength.

10/13/2013 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD James has really improved his baseball abilities and now has the makings of a special type player at the next level. At the plate is where he has improved the most, still showing as a switch hitter with outstanding hitting abilities from both sides. Currently, he showed better power numbers from the right side. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through an athletic setup. He displays a solid feel for the barrel through a level swing path with the baseball exploding off the bat when centered. Behind the plate, pop times have improved now showing a range of 2.08-2.25 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Mental makeup may be his best tool as he displays a great attitude and is a hard worker.

03/17/2013 - College PREP - Manassas, VA James is a lanky catcher that will graduate in 2015. Feet are active, working in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed a range of 2.19-2.30 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he works to get rid of the baseball quicker and increases foot speed. Receiving / blocking skills shows as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, Levenberg is a switch hitter that projects slightly better from the right side. He shows a solid setup with balance and rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path with solid barrel accuracy. From the left side, he shows a no stride approach with a line drive type path. With 2 years to further develop, James has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
