James continues to show as a 2B/RHP but currently projects best at 2B for the next level. Feet are active and he works to square balls up showing clean hands. He moves well laterally, flashing range and communicates well in the MIF. For grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls, play through while presenting hands more out front and improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path, displaying a simple approach. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he learns to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 7. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 69-74 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with slight break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable.

James is a solid, 2-way player with a strong lower 1/2. At 2nd base, James has sure hands, active footwork, and he presents his glove well. He fields out front, his transition is clean, and he throws with accuracy to his target. On the mound, James has a sound arm action, consistent mechanics, and he keeps his shoulders level. A better finish, not flying open, and a looser front arm action will help pitching improve. At the plate, James has a square set-up, good balance, and a level swing. He is a patient hitter with good barrel accuracy. Hitting can get better if James an avoid lunging, and improve his rhythm.
05/27/2013 - College PREP - Jupiter, FL
James is a talented 2-way player as a 2B/RHP who has a solid build. He excels offensively through a simple and patient approach. This right handed hitter gets into a good loaded position and maintains good balance throughout his swing. He displays good barrel accuracy, squaring up the ball and hitting line-drives. His strong lower 1/2 presents power potential if he can utilize it more and create more extension through the contact point. Defensively at 2B, James maintains active footwork and presents his glove out in front well. DP's are turned smoothly through a clean exchange as he makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this RHP has a 4-pitch arsenal. He shows consistency in his mechanics and a repeatable delivery. He is around the plate, throwing strikes with all of his pitches. Driving toward the plate and working on staying in-line will help to improve mound effectiveness. As a 2015 graduate, James still has time to work on his game and should have a bright future.
