07/16/2015 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 James showed strength to his game, especially on the mound, at the Cape Cod Select Training & Competition with Baseball Factory. He threw his FB with run from 76-78, hit 86 mph on his raw velocity, and spun a SL from 59-63. He worked down in the zone with his stuff after gathering over the rubber with balance and separating on-time. He took his head to the target and finished with his chest over his front knee. He struck out 4 of 6 hitters he faced and with a cleaner delivery and tempo will repeat his actions and boost his control. Defensively in the OF, he worked to the baseball well with body control and threw with fluid arm action. He worked to get his hips lower to field with a more sure glove and also worked to be more aggressive to come get. Offensively, he had a tall setup and generated some bat speed with his direct route. He had some rhythm in his swing and implemented hand/hip drills to boost coordination. All in all - James is an intriguing hurler that can also play the OF, and has the fall/winter to prepare for his senior spring.
