09/04/2020 - MS All-Region Tournament
In just one short month since we last saw James at Pirate City, this exciting RHH prospect showed improved measurables and offensive strength. During testing, James ran a 1.6 ten-yard dash, a 6.99 sixty, broad jumped 8'6", hit 84 mph with his exit velo, and touched 76 with his raw arm velo. At the plate, he hit a HR, 3B, walked once and had a stolen base. He pressured the defense by putting the ball in play in two of his other ab's. Mechanically, his hands were loose and he showed some feel for the barrel with in-sync body cadence. At the hot corner, he worked his feet effectively and got good reads on hops, fielding efficiently. All in all - James fits the profile of a hard hitting 3B with plus athleticism and great future upside.
07/18/2020 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14)
James is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers ground. At the plate he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with tight spin and gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable. With 4 years to further develop, James has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to progress his game.
