07/26/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) James continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.37 with accuracy and carry on his throws. Times will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and tracking the ball well, sticking balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

11/04/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Tampa, FL James is an athletic and talented 2022 utility prospect that continues to work hard. Behind the dish, James has an athletic primary stance, works behind the ball and makes accurate throws. He leads with his glove and controls balls with his chest when blocking. In the OF, James anticipates the ball off the bat and works behind fly balls. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws. At the plate, James starts in a tall stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He tracks the ball well and consistently hits the ball to the pull side. James will continue to develop with his work ethic and eagerness to learn. We hope to see his progress in the near future.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) James is an athletic and talented 2022 catching prospect. Behind the dish, James leads with his glove and squares the ball up with his chest when blocking. He has a quick exchange and quick release. Continuing to be in an athletic primary/ secondary stance will allow him to work behind the ball when receiving. He needs to work his thumb under the ball when receiving the low fastball. At the plate, James starts in a tall stance, gets his front foot down on time, and loads his hands back into the drive position. He shows pull side pop and hits of a firm front side. Creating back hip rotation will allow his hands to work to the ball more consistently. James needs to continue to make adjustments and will continue to improve with experience.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
