02/18/2022 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Jamie is a C who will graduate in 2024. Tall frame, with broad shoulders, athletic build with some strength present and room to add more strength. Behind the dish, easy sit who showed good agility and quiet actions. Gains ground with good direction towards second base. Creates good blocking angles and displayed a soft chest as he deaden balls. Showed a quick arm with accurate/online throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity of 80 mph and a best pop time of 2.12 seconds. A right-handed hitter, hits from an even stance. Uses lower half with good balance through contact and a fast bat. Flat bat path who made square contact and hit balls into both gaps. Reached base 5 times including a double with a recorded bat exit velocity of 80 mph during live game action. With 2 more years of continued growth and development, we foresee him having the opportunity to play at the next level.

08/16/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Salem (Roanoke), VA Jamie continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he threw his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.32 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are loose and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-69 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Getting on top of pitch and releasing more out front will aid in improving pitch. He maintains arm speed on changeup but throws too hard resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength on the mound.

07/16/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Jamie is a lean, athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show in the range of 2.38-2.20 with accuracy. Glove action is soft and he sticks in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 63-66 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to find a more consistent release point. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Jamie has a ton of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
