01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jared is a MIF who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. A projectable SS - Brett has lot of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jared is a talented 2-way prospect who showed his versatility during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. At SS, he has active prep and moves lightly on the balls of his feet. He presents his glove, fields the ball out in front and funnels to a clean exchange. Release is quick as he has a cannon for an arm (91 mph). At the plate, this switch hitter shows similarly from both sides. He gets loaded, takes a hack and squares the ball up. The ball jumps off of his bat when centered with an exit velocity of 89 mph. On the mound, this righty pounds the zone with a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH). He has smooth separation, directional toward the dish and works quickly. He keeps the ball down in the zone, resulting in a lot of GB outs. FB tops out at 80 mph while showing some tailing action. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape, 67-69 mph. Changeup shows to be his best off speed pitch, as it has good arm side run complimenting his FB well. Jared (2019 grad) has the tools that will make an impact on the diamond.

11/05/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Plano (DFW), TX Jared is a lean, athletic SS prospect with impressive strength and feel for the game. He has a cannon for an arm at short and is able to make strong throws from the hole to complete very tough plays. He has efficient footwork in the field and a quick first step to cover plenty of range up the middle and in the hole. He fields athletically with soft hands and shows a clean exchange to get rid of the ball and make strong, accurate throws. At the dish, he can swing it from both sides with a strong lower half that generates fast bat speed through the zone. He works on a level, direct path to the ball to make consistent, line drive contact from gap to gap. Staying back and keeping his balance will allow him to react to off speed pitches better. Jared is an exciting prospect who has a lot of talent and potential.

06/06/2017 - 2017 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National Texas Jared continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At SS, he has plus lateral range, working from the ground-up with smooth actions. Transfer is quick as he fires strong throws zipping(90 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate - he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm to load. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Jared has the tools that will play at a very high level and make an immediate impact.

04/09/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Plano (DFW), TX Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a tremendous future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.38. In the MIF, defensive abilities are now excellent as he displays quick / athletic actions. Feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry across the diamond. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He has strength in his swing and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He maintains eyes on target and has good rhythm. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 79 mph. Fastball showed a range of 77-79 mph. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with tight spin and gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows good cutting action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

04/10/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Plano (DFW), TX This young/athletic MIF continues to develop. At SS, he hustles around the GB and into a square fielding position. He moves well around the 2B bag and can turn the DP efficiently. Working more on the balls of his feet will help to increase lateral range in the INF. As a hitter - Jared remains selective and waits for a pitch he can handle. He swings on a direct path, barrels the ball up and hits it to all parts of the field. More lower 1/2 drive will help to tap into more power potential. Jared is a hard worker who still has a ton of time to progress and get stronger.

07/13/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Carrollton (DFW), TX Jared continues to work hard on his game. With the bat, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm to load. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. Swinging on a shorter/more direct path will result in even more power. At SS, he shows active footwork with good lateral range. He picks out the hops, funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, FB now tops out at 65 mph while showing slight run. Changeup has late run and compliments his FB well. Finishing with more extension on his follow through will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Jared is a hard worker who still has time and room to improve.

12/07/2014 - National Tryout - Grand Prairie (DFW), TX Jared continues to work hard and develop his skills on the diamond. At the plate, this switch hitter currently shows slightly better from the right side. He lets the ball travel into the zone waiting for his pitch. Swing path is level as he connects and hits line-drives. In the OF, he takes a quick first step which allows him to track down FB's hit into the gaps. He plays through the ball well and has a clean exchange to throw. Jared also got on the mound. He has a 3-pitch mix coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He shows strong mound presence, works at his pace, and drives off in-line toward the dish. FB ranges from 55-63 mph while showing late run. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with gradual break. Developing a more consistent release point with his CB will help to improve effectiveness. He works the ball to both sides of the plate and mixes his pitches well. Only a 2019 grad - Jared still has a ton of time to polish his skills.

07/21/2014 - National Tryout - Austin, TX Jared continues to work hard on the diamond. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with good pre-pitch actions. He picks out the right hop and plays through toward his target. With the bat, this RHH shows an open setup with good rhythm. He squares the ball and hits it on a line.

06/27/2013 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Jared is a young outfielder who is extremely coachable and wants to get better. He also displays some potential in the infield. Defensively Jared is very sound, he gets behind the ball well in the outfield with soft hands and a smooth exchange to throw. He has a sound crow-hop and is accurate with his throws. In the infield Jared is aggressive to the ball with sure hands and plays thru it well. At the plate Jared is balanced and lets the ball travel. He is a solid contact hitter that could develop some pop as he gets bigger and stronger. Jared has sound skills, as he grows and matures physically there is no doubt he will improve based on his work ethic.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
