04/28/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Manalapan, NJ Jared is an OF/C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Jared shows quick footwork and covers ground well. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws consistent to his target. Behind the plate, Jared shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, working to keep them accurate to the 2B bag. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Overall, Jared is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

03/25/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Madison (NYC), NJ Jared showed in the OF and behind the plate as a catcher for the first time at the event. He continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.00. Behind the plate, feet work in line to his target through a clean / transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.31 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He shows off his athletic abilities through the blocking process but will benefit by working to get his body down sooner. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Jared is a lean OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through more with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is outstanding as he has a positive attitude, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 3 years to further develop, Jared has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
