09/20/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI Jared continues to work hard on his skills. Offensively, this RHH displays a balanced setup as he waits for his pitch. Swing is level as he connects with strength as he has the ability to take the pitch on the outer 1/2 the other way. Relaxing/loosening his grip will allow for increased bat speed resulting in more power at the plate. Behind the dish, he tracks pitches into his mitt and frames well. He blocks pitches in the dirt off of his chest and is quick to recover and get to his feet. At 3B, Jared has active footwork taking a quick first step as he hustles around the GB. He gathers smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Continuing to develop his foot speed / agility will help to increase his lateral range. A 2017 grad - Jared has upside with still time to progress.

12/20/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Jared has a great attitude and listens well to his coaches. He displays leadership qualities way beyond his years. His takes charge behind the plate and allows all the players around him to play with confidence. He shows a low setup with a good base. He receives with a soft mitt, framing pitches well. With the bat, Lutsic shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Swing path is level as he drives to and through the zone. He has a compact swing and displays good pop to the opposite field. As he continues to stay balanced and incorporate a stronger lower half he will develop more pop off of his barrel. Only a 2017 grad - Jared still has time to work on and develop his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
