10/11/2017 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.44 runner. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range in the MIF and attacks balls playing through well while presenting hands well out front. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process . Throws are accurate with carry as he works to get rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, showing a feel for the barrel as he uses the middle of the field well through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

04/09/2017 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Jared continues to progress his game. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is firm and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally to both sides. At the plate, he shows a crouched setup. Hands stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 69-71 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with tailing action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/11/2016 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Jared is a hardworking 2B/RHP prospect who has potential and graduates in 2018. Offensively, Jared has a square, athletic stance with good balance. He maintains direction with his stride and uses his lower half throughout his swing. Jared has fluid, smooth rhythm and timing as he has a direct swing path with above average bat speed. He has an aggressive, line drive approach producing consistent results with square contact. In the field, Jared plays with effective footwork and gets around the baseball fielding it in a square position. He presents his glove and fields the baseball in a low position with a clean exchange leading into a short arm action. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with accuracy and online carry. On the mound, Jared has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He extends through his release and has a square, controlled landing. He maintains eye contact and effectively uses his front side. Jared features a fastball, curveball, and changeup. Overall, Jared has good potential as he continues to develop his game on the field.

10/19/2016 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he plays through a low approach. Glove action is soft / clean and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range will improve as he increases foot quickness. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows good rhythm and a solid approach at the plate. Hands stay inside the baseball utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with a 10/4 shape breaking ball. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches, attacking hitters. Building more arm strength through a long toss program will aid in further development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he shows good aptitude, works hard, and is very coachable. Jared is an outstanding defender that will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

08/03/2016 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jared showed as a hard working player who is very coachable and is a great team player. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and squares up well with his body. He shows off his athletic ability on his turns / feeds of the double play. Increasing foot quickness will aid in improving defensive abilities. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path and aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 69-70 mph. He maintains arm speed on changeup with sinking action. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Jared is a 2018 two-way 2B/RHP with a thin wiry frame (5-9 125). At 2B, Jared shows a good 1st step, with smooth body control as he approaches ball and fields the ball out front of his eyes. At the plate this right handed hitter has a good feel for strike zone as he recognizes pitches early out of the pitcher's hand. He has the ability to provide consistent contact and have competitive approach with a flat path. On the mound, Jared shows good control with a FB/CB combo from a 3/4 arm slot. He is effortless with his release, gets to a good balance point, and attacks the zone with consistency. His FB sat at 71 mph with high strike frequency and his CB sat at 65MPH with 11-5 shape. Overall, Jared plays the game with heart as he hustles on and off the field, he might be small in stature but as he continues to grow and get stronger he is going to be a player to follow over the next two seasons.

04/17/2016 - College PREP - Kentfield (San Francisco), CA Jared is a lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities are solid, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he shows a low approach, displaying clean hands. Glove action is soft and presents on time. He works to get rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy on his throws. Continuing to increase foot quickness will improve range. At the plate, he shows a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 66-69 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but needs to develop more movement on pitch and stay in line. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. With 2 years to further develop, Jared has a lot of potential with time and room to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
