Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He utilizes his lower half well and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 71 mph. Fastball showed a range of 65-71 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound.

05/13/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Spokane, WA Jared is a tall, 2-way player who plays 1B and RHP. Defensively, Jared presents his glove early, he has active footwork to the ball, and fields in a square position. He makes plays cleanly, has a quick exchange, and delivers the ball with accuracy from a loose arm to his target. On the mound, Jared keeps his eyes on target, his arm is loose, and he has good glove tuck with a controlled landing toward home. Offensively, Jared has a tall set-up, he loads well, and he makes hard/consistent contact. He swings aggressively, and has pop to all fields. Jared can continue to improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
