01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Jared is a very athletic 2020 Catcher out of California. Does it all behind the plate, receives the baseball extremely well, is low and athletic, gives a great target and has a strong yet soft hands. A pitcher's favorite type of Catcher will earn strikes and control games. Blocks very well also, centers the baseball after anticipating balls in the dirt early and showcased impressive instincts. Replaces his feet well when throwing to bases, has a quick release as it showed by his 1.95s POP time to 2B. At the plate Jared showcases more value. This switch-hitter is consistent from both sides of the plate in his mechanics, stances, balance and ability to drive the baseball hard with a line drive approach. Very versatile player with huge upside.

07/18/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 16U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Jared is an athlete that works hard behind the plate and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.00 range with accuracy and zip on his throws. He shows a solid setup and sticks balls well in the zone and utilizes his body well through the blocking process and is a wall behind the plate. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he continues to show as a solid switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Power potential is now outstanding as a LHH/RHH. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 6 for 8 with 4 2B. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable, and plays the game hard. Jared has the tools to play at the next level and will make some school a special type player.

04/29/2018 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Jared is a talented catching prospect who has a lean, athletic build. As a switch-hitter, Jared has a tall setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and on-time stride as his lower half leads his swing. Jared shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path producing square contact. He has a middle of the field approach and the power to drive the ball to each gap. Behind the plate, Jared has good setup and moves smoothly with active footwork. He presents a good target and stays athletic in his secondary setup. Jared has a quick exchange leading into a long arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He has a quick release showing strong, accurate throws down to 2B. His POP times range from 1.99 - 2.20 seconds. He also does a nice job blocking the baseball as he is quick to his knees. Overall, Jared is a talented prospect who could be an impact player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
