01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament A 2-way talent on the diamond, Jared again put his skills on display at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. He covers a ton of ground in the OF and works well behind the fly-ball. Hands are soft with a quick exchange as he fires throws on a line and works to stay directional following the throw. At the plate, this righty looks to swing it. He takes a hack with quick hands and doesn't get cheated. The ball explodes off of his barrel with the ability to drive it deep into the gaps. On the mount, Sherer remains compact and attacks the zone challenging hitters to swing the bat. FB tops out at 82 mph with good arm-side run. CB is best off-speed pitch with late break, proving to be a solid out pitch. Jared has what it takes to play at a very high level.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Jared is a solid, strong OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.21. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in swing with power showing best to the pull side. In the OF, he displays solid defensive abilities and utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movement as he displays range. He works to get behind balls, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with zip and on line carry to his target. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 75-78 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Jared has a lot of potential and will get looks from the college coaches with his baseball abilities.

03/11/2018 - College PREP - Corpus Christi, TX Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an outstanding runner at 7.01. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with carry on his throws. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Swing path is level and works through an aggressive path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-76 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/16/2017 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Jared is a coachable player who worked hard on his skills during his time at the USA Baseball 17U Championships. In the OF, Jared shows efficient footwork as he gains ground to center the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a low position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He has a long arm action from a high 3/4 angle and keeps his throws consistent to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a short, square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and comes through the zone well with his lower half. He takes a short swing to the ball with decent bat speed which leads to solid contact. On the mound, Jared has a compact delivery and is very aggressive in the strike zone. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with arm side tail. Breaking ball sits from 64-66mph with 1-7 break. Changeup ranges from 66-69mph with good sinking action as he throws with fastball arm speed. Overall, Jared is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

10/05/2016 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Jared continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.13. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. He reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in tracking down balls. He utilizes his lower half well through his crop hop. He gets behind and stays behind the baseball in getting rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with good rhythm. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive / direct swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all through a line drive approach with good barrel accuracy. At the event he was 3 for 8 with 2 2B. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 75 mph. Fastball showed tailing action. Breaking ball displays 2/8 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show potential as being quality pitches as he continues to develop. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program to build more arm strength will aid in further development on the mound. Mental makeup continues to show as a plus tool as he is a great teammate and is a student of the game. Jared can really play and has the makings of a special type player as he continues to develop. He should continue to pitch and play OF as he could progress into a solid 2-way guy.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament This athletic/versatile player continues to show well on the diamond. In the OF, he has takes a quick first step with good angles to track down fly-balls his to his right and left. He works behind and through the ball in-line toward his target - firing accurate throws. Offensively, Jared shows an athletic setup with centered balance. He has fluid rhythm to load and waits for his pitch. Swing is quick through a level path as he connects and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. On the mound, Jared toes the rubber with a purpose. He works to a tall balance point and drives downhill off of the rubber. Arm works loose & free as he repeats his delivery well. FB shows good run - now topping out at 73 mph. Changeup shows to be best off-speed pitch as it as arm-side run and gets a lot of swing and misses. He mixes his pitches well, challenging hitters and competing. Sherer is a talented prospect who has a ton of upside with a bright future ahead of him in the game.

09/30/2015 - Arizona Freshman/Sophomore Fall Classic Jared continues to show improvements at both his positions in the OF and on the mound. In the OF, foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.31. Defensive grade in the OF have improved as well as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in tracking down balls. He utilizes his lower half well through his crop hop as he gets behind and stays behind the baseball in getting rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, hitting grade have improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields. He is patient at the plate and shows as a typical lead off type hitter as he works the count. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 71 mph. Fastball showed good arm side run and has quality off speed stuff that will get outs at the next level. He attacks hitters as he throws strikes with all his pitches, changing speeds well with plus deception. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup continues to show as a plus tool as he is a great teammate and is a student of the game.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Jared continues to show as a OF/LHP, projecting well at both positions as he has improved his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive grade has improved as he utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and displays clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he works to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target and continues to increase foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he displays a balanced setup as he shows good rhythm. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, showing a solid middle / away approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus as working through a solid line drive approach. Power numbers will continue to increase as he adds overall body strength and uses his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he threw his top velocity to date, topping out at 70 mph. Fastball showed a range of 68-70 mph with arm side run and sink. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with late sharp break and shows as a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches and mixes up well. He is a bulldog on the mound showing a strong drive to compete. Stock on mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays with a lot of energy and is very coachable, working hard to be the best player he can be as he leads by example.

07/25/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Jared is a primary LHP with a bright future on the mound. He pounds the zone and gets ahead of hitters with his 3 pitch mix. His fastball has good arm side run and sink, curve has a nice 11/5 shape with late bite, and his changeup has good sink / fade. He has a great mound presence and knows how to pitch keeping hitters off balance. At the plate he has an open stance, good load, and strong balance. He has good barrel accuracy and was consistent hitting line drives during games. Jared has a lot of potential on the mound and should be fun to watch as he gets older.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Jared is a young athletic OF/LHP. Defensively, he showed good feel in the outfield displaying the proper routes/angles to the ball. He does a nice job working behind the ball and playing through to get more behind his throws. Arm action is fluid and working on building arm strength over the next couple of years will improve his overall ability. On the mound, Jared shows above average mechanics for his age. He reaches a controlled balance point displaying good tempo to his delivery. He can continue to work on the consistency of his finish making sure he allows his backside to finish. At the plate, Jared is your typical top of the lineup hitter. He does a nice job working counts with excellent barrel control. He uses the entire field well with a strong lower half. Focusing on letting the ball travel and working his hands/hips together will increase hitting grades. Jared has a bright future in this game as he continues to physically mature.

07/30/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Raleigh, NC Jared is a solid, athletic, 2-way player who pitches and plays OF. On the hill, Jared has a free / smooth arm action, a controlled balance point, and on-time separation. He has level shoulder, good direction toward home, and he lands in a sound position. In the OF, Jared has sure hands, he takes good routes and angles to the ball, and he throws with accuracy from a long arm action to his target. At the plate, Jared has good balance, a solid approach, and quick hands. He shows a good overall idea, he gets good extension through the ball, and he finishes completely. Abilities can improve if Jared can work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
