01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Jaren is a solid OF/RHP that will graduate this spring. With the bat, he has a level plane, good rhythm and good extension. He was consistently on time and showed good coordination with his hips and hands. Defensively, he worked behind and through the ball well and was quick to release. On the mound, he had fluid arm action with good extension over the front side. He changed speeds well with a CB and CH. In all - Jaren is a good young player that will be a positive contribution to a college program.

10/09/2013 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Daniels continues to show as an OF/RHP, projecting better in the OF for the next level but also has an upside on the mound. Defensive abilities in the OF have improved, now showing as outstanding as he utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He reads balls well off the bat, takes proper first steps, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. At the plate, Jaren continues to shine through an open / athletic setup with balance and has improved his hitting abilities, now showing as outstanding. Hands are quick, generating outstanding bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At the event, he was 5 for 8. On the mound, delivery is outstanding, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with tight spin and late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing an outstanding feel for with tailing action. Off speed pitches are quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Command / control are superior as well as he throws strikes with all his pitches to both sides of the plate and changes speeds well. He had 4 quality innings at the event and has a solid presence on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he works hard and has a great attitude.

07/29/2013 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Daniels showed in the OF and on the mound for the first time at the event. Currently, he projects best in the OF for the next level. Foot speed has improved as indicated by his 6.96 60 time. He utilizes his quick feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through well with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate with on line carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Daniels continues to shine through an athletic setup and displays well above average hitting and power abilities. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed to and through the baseball, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered and works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-80 mph sink and arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a solid feel for with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs at the next level. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker and is very coachable. Jaren has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
