10/14/2015 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Jarret continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.00. He gets rid of the baseball quickly through a quick / clean release and displays outstanding arm strength. Receiving / blocking skills are outstanding, showing as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He uses his lower half well and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is a leader behind plate.

10/04/2015 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Jarret is a lean backstop graduating in 2017. Behind the dish, he receives the ball well with soft hands and simple actions. He blocks balls in the dirt effectively his big target. Throws to 2B show life with his repeatable footwork and easy transfer. Times will drop with improved arm strength and cadenced feet. At the plate, he continues to hit with confidence and balance in his square stance. He uses his lower 1/2 to drive the ball to the gaps and will see more pop with a more aggressive approach to the FB. Overall, Jarret is a talented player with a bright future ahead of him as he continues to work on the little things to become a better ball player.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Jarret's consistency on both sides of the baseball continues to improve. Offensively, he gets the bat into a good hitting position and generates plus bat speed to drive the ball in the gaps. He is very controlled in his actions and worked to stay loose with his upper half for plus head control & barrel accuracy. He put the barrel on the ball going an impressive 6 for 8 at the event. Behind the plate, he continues to show consistency with his body control and blocking ability. He is quick to drop, takes the glove to the ball, and deadens in front. His hands are firm to receive and he exchanges well. Speeding up his feet and relaxing his upper half to receive with softer hands will increase play ability. In all - Jarret is a sound player who has a bright future in the game.

08/23/2014 - National Tryout - Purchase, NY Jarret continues to show well on the diamond. Behind the dish, he shows athletic actions and sticks pitches in the zone. On throws down to 2B; he gains ground, works in-line, and his arm works easy/fluid. With the bat, Jarret shows a balanced approach with rhythm. He gets back into a loaded position and waits for his pitch. He throws the barrel through the zone with plus bat speed, resulting in hard contact. A young 2017 grad - Jarret has a lot of skills with a lot of time to develop.

03/09/2014 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Jarret is a R/R backstop with a quick arm. Behind the plate, the tracks the ball into his mitt and receives it with a soft mitt. When throwing down to 2B; he shows good footwork, staying directional, with pop times as low as 2.17. At the plate, this RH swinger shows a square setup with a strong base. He squares the ball up and hits it where its pitched, using the whole field. Getting more extension through the zone will help to increase power at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
