ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

06/15/2013 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Jaryn continues to improve and impress with advanced actions in all 3 areas of his game. Defensively, he continues to operate with smooth hands and improved foot work to throw. He has increased range, arm strength and overall feel for infield play showing very keen instincts on routine and broken plays. On the mound, Jaryn was a strike machine, pounding the zone with both his Fast and Curve while getting swings at his Change low in the zone. He has sound mechanics and simply needs to get stronger to improve velocity and overall effectiveness/durability. At the plate, Jaryn has great hands which he uses to handle the bat with pin point barrel accuracy. He has a good feel for situational hitting and is always a tough out at the plate and a threat to take an extra base on the base-paths. Overall, Jaryn is a very talented young player whom is maturing inside the game very nicely, continuing to add strength will improve his performance and allow his development to continue on time.

01/27/2013 - College PREP - Kapolei (Honolulu), HI Jaryn is a young SS/RHP that will graduate in 2015. Currently, he projects best on the mound for the next level. Delivery is outstanding showing sound / repeatable mechanics that allows his arm action to work loose / quick to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball is a quality pitch and will get outs at the next level, displaying 11/5 shape with sharp / late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a solid feel for with fading action. Command / control are a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Feet are active as he works to square balls up and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. At the plate, Nakamoto shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 2 years to further develop, Jaryn has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
