Official Scouting Report

06/16/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 (HS) JJ continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 6.92runner. At SS, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. He moves well laterally and covers ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting abilities are now solid through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Atchinson, KS JJ is an athletic SS prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, JJ shows quick footwork and is agile covering ground. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes accurate throws to his target. Long tossing can help JJ build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and works through a short swing, producing strong line drives. JJ can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. Overall, JJ is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
